Day 7

September 14, 2012

Getting very little sleep over the previous week is catching up to me. I just don’t feel like getting out of bed this morning.  I had a 10 am ADR from The Wave at the Contemporary.  I was going to try out the buffet there, if they had anything special.  But I am not hungry at all, so I just lay in bed and sleep.  I get out of bed late morning, and get ready for my day.

raining out but clearing in the distance

I planed to check out the next door Art of Animation resort this morning, but since its raining, will skip it and do it anther day.

Here is a photo of Art of Animation from outside of my room.

But by the time I get down to ground level, it stopped raining, so I scooted to the bridge that spans Hourglass Lake and entered Art of Animation.  Here are some photos.

And along the path by Hourglass Lake

and my room at Pop, circled

Here are some photos from Art of Animation itself

Finding Nemo, not for me. Cars looked nice.  Maybe sometime in the future I may stay here.  I figure to head to the Magic Kingdom now.   I thought maybe use AoA resort bus system, but decide to head back to Pop Century and use the buses there.

Didn’t mention this yesterday.  Leaving Epcot via International Gateway, there was a meet and greet for Mary Poppins. Some jerk yells at crowd, "why are you waiting, its not worth it"

I make it to the Magic Kingdom, head to the Monorail to go to The Polynesian for lunch at Kona Café.  It’s a favorite to eat here.

For appetizer, Pot Stickers

For my entrée, Polynesian Plate Lunch - Grilled Teriyaki Steak with Grilled Pineapple Salsa with Sticky Rice and Pasta Salad.

And for dessert, a Kona Kone.  It has changed over the years, but its still one of the reasons I eat here.

After lunch, I took the Monorail back to the Magic Kingdom. Its raining steady.

Walking down Main Street, I see a gentleman getting down on one knee with a photographer snapping away.  I am guessing he just proposed and she said yes.

I did some window shopping on Main Street, but it would be too cumbersome to take back large window back to New York via Amtrak J

I wonder over to Tomorrowland and go on Stitch’s Great Escape.  Just something to do.

After that, waiting on
3 pm Share a Dream Come True Parade.  Look at about 5 minutes in and see Captain Hook bend down to look into the camera lens of my hi def camcorder.

After the parade, I head over to do the Hall of Presidents.  Remember the other day when I tried, it was down?

After Hall Of Presidents, I head to Jungle Cruise.  Not only is there no line here, but the boat after me only has 3 people in it. Here is the video.

Pirates next

So while everyone was using the left queue, the right was open, and no one using it, so I went down the right side.

After that went to Haunted Mansion, I counted just 8 people in the stretching room, including myself and the host. Could this be because not so scary tonight ?

Peter Pan next.  Just sat back and watched… no video tape.

Peter Pan had a line. The CM’s manning the ride mentioned the attraction was down earlier.

Since the Magic Kingdom closes early tonight, I just head to the Polynesian for dinner at ‘Ohana.  Dinner is ok.  Feel a little rushed, but I don’t have a problem with that, as I really don’t want to eat too much here.

This was the night we were going to get together, several members of Disney yahoo groups.

I hang out outside of ‘Ohana not knowing who to expect.  I tell people pretty much, look for someone in a NY Yankee Hat and some type of New York/ Coney Island t-shirt.

Someone walks up and asks… are you Bruce?  I go.. could be ;)

It is Virginia who lives in nearby Orlando, her husband Alan and grand daughter Ashlyn.

We sat and chatted for a while.  It seems no one else showed up.  We parted and I headed back to the Magic Kingdom and resort bus back to Pop Century.
