Day 5

Today I just have a adr for dinner at Coral Reef.  I use my Finding Nemo t-shirt, “Hi my name is Bruce” the shark.  I wonder how many people will get it?

I am lazy, I get out of bed by 8:20, out of the room by 9:20.

The lady next door to my room was bitching on her cell phone about people.  How bad they are.  She leaves her ecv outside the room to charge.  She was also smoking outside her room while sitting on her ECV.  If she was smoking near my ac intake I would show her nasty.

I waited a couple of minutes wait for the next Epcot bus.  He pulls in and starts to let passengers on.  Hello??  What about me ??  They usually board ECV’s before other people board.  The third person to board points me out the bus driver.  He stops others from boarding and lowers the bus, extends the ramp for me.

I head to Sunshine Seasons and have breakfast there.

I liked the French toast better then the waffles they usually give.

After eating I use my GAC pass to ride Soarin, then I head to Imagination Pavilion.

There are rumors that this attraction will be shut down and be a total rehab with a new theme.  So I treat this as a last ride.  Here is the video.

I then head to ride the new version of Test Track.  I have a fast pass plus for this later, so I use my GAC card.  I am brought into a preshow area.  Using RFID technology on my Magic Band to create a unique car on a touch screen.  I finish early, but still have to wait before the doors open.  When they do, I have to go up a ramp.  The trouble with going up ramps in a scooter, they tend to roll backwards about ½ a foot before going forward.  Its like going from a brake to forward by going through neutral.  I am paying careful attention to make sure no one is behind me.  The combined weight of me and the ECV could be close to 400 pounds, causing major damage if I run over someone’s foot.

I make it up to ride without any problems.  When waiting to board the car, you are supposed to scan your Magic Band so along the ride, you will get statistics comparing your ride to the car you created.  If you don’t have a Magic Band, they supply you with a card that has a chip built in.

The post ride activities has you creating a commercial, emailing it to people or yourself.  Then use a old style video game to drive your car on a race course with other people.  Again, this is all done using the RFID chip to have the system ID who you are and the car you create.  Here is the video.

They create a commercial for you after the ride, here is the video of the commercial.

After Test Track, I head to Mission Space.  The family I was with didn’t press any buttons when told to do so, lucky for computer override J

I head to Japan in World Showcase for lunch, some chicken teriyaki.  At Japan, when I order my food from their quick service location, I am told there soda machine is down.  They offer me a bottle of water instead, which I get.

After eating I head to the American Adventure to see the show.   When I enter the pavilion, I am directed to a hidden elevator and allowed to wait on the second floor, watching the performers below.

Even though I am escorted to the back of the theater, I leave my scooter in the rear of the theater and sit up front.  Since this show is light in terms of attendance, it is ok.  I like to be close enough to see the smoke from Mark Twain’s cigar.

After the show, I have a fastpass plus for Mission Space, so I head there.

In the preshow area, I am teamed with a family of there.  After the preshow, before we board, the mother and daughter decide not to ride.  Then the father leaves too.  So the CM’s reteam me with another family missing one person.

After MS, I head to Universe of Energy.  I enter the pavilion just before boarding people on the ride.  A stranger thing happened here.  In the portion where you are going through the dinosaurs, when you see Ellen fighting the snake on the left, there are spitting dinosaurs on the right.  This time when I was looking at the dinosaurs, I got hit in the eyes with a stream of water, a little more powerful then I would think is safe.  But I don’t have any eye problems.  Before leaving the area, I talk to the CM at the attractions entrance about this.  He tells me, nothing to worry about, some guests get it in the mouth and that they use purified water.  I have no ill effects, so not too worried.

Next I had a fast pass plus time for Test Track, so I went back there. Here is a photo of the car I created.

Not a big deal, but I wanted to share it.

When we went outdoors, the wind bothered my eyes so much, they started to tear up.  I had to hold my hand over my eyes.  I guess the water hitting me in the eyes did bother me.  Here is the video of the ride.

And the commercial of it.

I now have a FP+ for Soarin, so I head across the plaza to back to The Land.

After Soarin, with a certain amount of angst, I head to Spaceship Earth.  They use a stock face, not my edited head shot where they remove the interlocking NY from my hat.  I don’t bother to send the email with the video of it to myself, I have it recorded on my personal video.  Here is that video.

I check in a little early for my dinner ADR at Coral Reef.  They have lots of people waiting, so I figure it will be a long wait.

Here is a photo of a scuba diver picking up something in the tank.

I had a good meal, steak.  I didn’t go for the appetizer as I usually get here. And for dessert, their lava cake.

After dinner, I am tired, but more importantly, my scooter is tired.  I also looked at my scheduled fastpass plus times.  I think I meant to do a water park in the am today, but forgot about it.  Instead I will head back to my resort, go to Downtown Disney and try out Disneyquest.  Its been years since I went inside. I look over my schedule tomorrow, and decide to do Blizzard Beach tomorrow morning.

I get off the bus at my resort and I see a truck from my scooter rental company sitting there.  So I approached him, told them my battery is almost dead, perhaps there is a problem? He asks me what time I stopped charging it, and started to use it.  It was about 9:30 that morning.  I saw the gentleman about 8 pm.  He said the scooter is only guaranteed to last 9
hours on a single charge, I was in my 11th hour.  I will worry if I will rent from them again next year.

I was using my digital camera to take video, which killed three sets of batteries, so I wanted to charge those batteries back in my room.  I also wanted to remove all the content off the digital cameras memory card and back it up too.

I left my room about
8:30 or so to head to the bus to go to Downtown Disney. I am paying for Disneyquest this year as part of my water park package addition to my Magic your pass media.  I was there last some 13 years ago. I wanted to visit it again.

I entered the place, they weren't permanently setup for magicband, but had a portable unit, scanned it and I was good to go.  I told them I didn’t know pretty much what to do, they sent me to the 3rd floor.

They had video game setup here. The first game I tried was a tank battle game that I was playing against some kid next to me, maybe 8 or 9.  He gave up playing after I killed his tank too many times :)  Yea.. I know.. I was picking on a 8 year old, but he was there before I was.

I was walking around and saw a new version of a old style sub game that I first played back in my teens,  I played with that till I got almost a million points.  It’s a fun game where you see a ship crossing the screen in front of you, you need to aim your torpedo to sink it.   There is a skill to this... which I still have ;)

I tried some flying games, not that good on those type games.  I looked up the stairs and saw more video games.  These were first person shooting games that you hold a full size gun.

Let me tell you this story.  Maybe 15 to 20 years, where I worked as a field tech, we worked in the office with the sales office.  The sales people had a great quarter and were rewarded with a night out at a sports bar.  They invited the field techs too.  They had this large screen TV game where you have a computer gun in your hand to shoot the bad guys.  When I finished playing, everyone was looking at me at what I just did.  To me, it was no big deal, you pull the trigger, and move onto the next target, squeeze, next target.  you don’t keep looking to know you dropped the bad guy, you know you did :)

So I saw nothing but different first person shooting games. I was in heaven. First game I played, I hit #1 score.  Then they told me the place was closing.  Disneyquest closes at 10?? I guess.

You know something, the hour I spent at Disneyquest is probable the best memory of this trip I had so far.  I had fun :)  Its been a long time since I went into my stand, closed one eye... and squeezed the trigger ;)  I may not have the coordination to have Mickey jump from one moving gear to another anymore.  But I can still do a good job at a shooting game ;)

I head to the bus stations by Planet Hollywood. I am waiting by the Pop bus station when a driver calls me over to the bus station next to me.  It seems he is also a pop century bus, but had to park here.  I am on the bus and headed back to my resort.

Mouse(house)keeping leaves me a butterfly by my sink today.
