Old Transit Authority
Powerplant
Behind the street car in the
photo on the left is two buildings. The
building closer to us is the old Transit Authority power plant that was torn
down years ago. Its replacement is the
current power plant located where the Culver Line connects with the Brighton
Line at West 8th
street. The building with the square roof top, I have
no idea, and was most likely removed when Neptune Ave was relocated to its current location. What you can't
see in the photo on the left, immediately to the left of the photo is Brighton
Beach Laundry, which will become very evident in future photos. The photo on the right is taken where I
believe the power plant used to be. Its
now part, store fronts, part, parking lot for Walgreens and other stores There
is one remnant that I personally remember seeing, was one of the poles that
brought electricity north to the Culver Line.
Here are some photos of a lonely poll which just being used for people
to place advertisements on. It is
located on a island in the middle of Neptune Ave, almost right infront of the old Broghton Beach
Laundry building which is now a mixture or retain stores, including Walgreens,
and upstairs there are medical offices and nightclubs.
